Dirt bike graphics thickness explained: what the mil numbers mean
Graphics kits are usually described by total thickness in mils (thousandths of an inch), counting the printed vinyl plus the clear laminate on top.
Thicker isn't always better
Thick kits resist roost and boot wear, but they are stiffer and need more heat to wrap tight curves.
Racing and heavy use
Riders who race or crash often tend to choose thicker kits for durability, especially on shrouds and radiator scoops.
Trail and show bikes
Thinner kits conform more easily and suit bikes that see lighter use or get re-wrapped often.
Ask your printer
Every shop uses different vinyl and laminate combinations. Ask what their thickness options are and match them to how you ride.
